Cleaning for your Jewellery:
While every piece of jewellery is made to be durable, it still requires varying levels of care. For example, some jewellery pieces are especially vulnerable to household chemicals and extremely high temperatures. Cleaning jewellery presents special challenges. Follow these guidelines below to care for your jewellery.
Most jewellery items can be cleaned in a similar way. We recommend you use Connoisseurs jewellery cleaner available for purchase through our online store. They come in 3 varying options: Precious, Silver and Delicate. You will also need a very soft toothbrush if there is no brush included with your jewellery cleaner. The Precious can be used to clean most of your 9ct, 18ct or Platinum Jewellery. Silver dip is mostly used to clean your silver jewellery and the Delicate can be used to clean your sensitive jewellery pieces like Pearls or Tanzanite. After cleaning your jewellery items, rinse thoroughly with luke warm water and then dry it with a soft cloth.
To ensure that your jewellery keeps its brand new sparkling look for as long as possible, we recommend that you store it separately, as gemstones have a higher density than precious metals and will scratch your jewellery if kept together. You can either get a soft cloth pouch or a jewellery box to store your jewellery in.
While it’s true that gemstones such as ruby and sapphire are second only to diamond on the hardness scale, it is not a measurement of their indestructibility. It means that these gemstones are able to resist scratching almost as well as a diamond. Abrasive surfaces, harsh chemicals, and sharp blows can damage even the hardest gem. Your jewellery should be the last thing you put on when getting dressed and the first thing you take off at the end of the night. Store your jewellery carefully and it will be enjoyed for generations.
